Cross country top team in Wheatland

Saratoga Middle/High School's cross country team hit the ground running at the Wheatland Invitational Friday, taking top-ranked finishes for the runners, and earning the top team ranking at the event.

High school varsity runners competing in the 5-kilometer run brought home first place. On the boys' side, three runners had top ten finishes. Jarom Herring took fourth place with his time of 18:31, with brothers Gavin and Gage Bartlett bringing home sixth and seventh, with respective times of 18:48 and 18:57.

Ashlynn Johnson, the only Lady Panther competing for the cross country team this year, earned a fifth place finish with her time of 21:23.

High School junior varsity athletes also competed in the 5K run, with Jeremiah Debar taking third with his time of 20:24, and Logan Wells taking fifth with his 20:25 run. Saratoga's JV runners all placed in the top ten, with Jerry Everett taking seventh; Taylor Widdison taking eighth and Erik Pinedo rounding out the crowd with a 10th-place finish.

Middle school runners ran the 1.95 mile run, with Bartletts bringing even more glory to the team as Grant Bartlett and Grady Bartlett took first and second places, with run times of 11:21 and 11:22.

Saratoga's contingent of middle school girls also fared well-with Makenna King running the 1.95 in 14 minutes flat, good for third place, and Marilee Williams taking 9th place with her time of 16:32.

The Saratoga Panthers cross country team's next outing is Friday at the Cheyenne Invitational at Prairie View Golf Course in Cheyenne.
