Lady Tigers split weekend

The Encampment Lady Tigers had a busy week at home where they faced the Farson-Eden Pronghorns Friday and the Cokeville Panthers Saturday.

The Tigers bested Farson-Eden Friday in four games. The first match went to Encampment 25-22. The Pronghorns regrouped in the second match, taking that one by a thin 28-26 margin. Farson's rebound was short-lived, and the 'horns lost the next two matches 25-20 and 26-24.

"We got to really work on our defense this game, which is something we needed," Robin O'Leary, the head coach of the Encampment Lady Tigers said.

On defense, the Tigers scored 48 kills and an impressive 153 digs.

The game was an opportunity for the teams' outside hitters to gain experience and develop experience, O'Leary said.

Saturday's game, however saw the Lady Tigers a bit surprised by the Cokeville Panthers, who rolled into town having just defeated the Saratoga Lady Panthers about an hour earlier in Saratoga.

The Tigers lost in three games, with scores of 21-25, 23-25 and 12-25.

"I think it might have surprised us a little," O'Leary said. "Cokevile came on stronger in the end and we were not able to transfer our passes into points, unfortunately."

Contrasted to their performance a day earlier, the Tigers hit 39 digs and 29 kills.

"We struggled getting our sets close enough to net and our hitter struggled finding holes on the other side of the court," O'Leary said. "We have work to do but I know we can get there by the end of the year."

The Lady Tigers will take on the Laramie Sophomores Friday at 4 p.m. in Laramie. They will take on the Saratoga Lady Panthers 1 p.m. Saturday in Saratoga's Panther Den.
