Riverside CCEDC rep picked, summer activities discussed

own Council listened to Sandy Martin’s, Encampment resident offer to represent the town on the Carbon County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) and voted to have her take the position.

Martin said she would look into why large tanker trucks were coming through the town and if there was a possibility of rerouting.

The council heard thanks from Lady Tigers Basketball, Town of Encampment and Mother Mountain Anglers for financial sponsorship.

Debbie Cunningham, from Encampment Preschool, thanked the council for past support of the school and requested a donation for $500 which was approved.

The park is getting ready to have new basketball nets hung and the dog station for canine waste is set to be put near the entranceway so people with dogs could get the bags as they entered the public area.

Mother Mountain Anglers will be contacted for help in creating a course map for the disc golf course.

The Visitors’ Center summer hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Signs are being repaired where needed.

WHATFest, scheduled July 27-28 was discussed. Council members expressed concern of insurance liability if participants camped between or inside cars as occurred last year.

Riverside Party Day was discussed for food preparation and who would do it. The council decided to put the concession up for bid.

The second 2017-2108 budget reading was approved, though there could be a possible amendment because of landfill rate uncertainty.

The council then went into executive session.

The next scheduled meeting of the Riverside Town Council will be 6 p.m. June 8 at the Riverside Town Hall.
