Marie Huntley

Memorial services for long-time Saratoga resident Marie Huntley were conducted Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Saratoga Cemetery Valley Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Niccolls of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Music was presented by Teense Willford.

Marie died Sunday, Aug. 14 in Cheyenne, Wyo. She had suffered with serious illness the past several months.

Born Dec. 16, 1935, in Davis, West Virginia to Ernest Clyde and Vivian Edna Winters, in her younger years Marie moved many times as her dad was in the military before coming to Saratoga with her family in the 1940s. A 1953 graduate of Platte Valley High School, she was married to Earl Edward Huntley on May 14, 1953 in Saratoga.

Marie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saratoga, serving as a Deacon and she used to bake the communion bread as well as provide her famous cinnamon rolls for fellowship, bake sales and church outings. She was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and their Past President's Parley, belonged to Presbyterian Women and was a supporter of the Senior Center.

She was bookkeeper for her husband Earl when the couple operated the Standard Service Station in Saratoga. For many years she was a waitress at Nelson's Café and a maid at the Old Baldy Club. Baking, sewing and embroidery were her passions.

Survivors include three children, Steven Earl Huntley and wife Pam of Commerce City, Colo., Becky George and husband Ronnie of Rawlins, Joseph Wayne Huntley and wife Linda of Saratoga; grandchildren Preston Reichert of Ft. Collins, Colo., Sadie Huntley of Rock Springs, Nick George of

Cheyenne, and Nathan Huntley of Rawlins; sister Janice Dayton and husband John of Greeley, Colo.; brother Lloyd Kenny Winters and wife Carolyn of Saratoga, and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in June of 2004, a son Michael Clyde Huntley in 1956, her parents, and a brother, Teddy Winters.

Cremation has been conducted and the remains will be scattered during a family gathering at a later date.
