Primary election forum Monday

VSO schedules chance to get to know candidates at Community Center

Monday, candidates for contested county offices and state representatives will have an opportunity to meet their Platte Valley constituents and present their views on local, county and state issues at the upcoming primary elections forum sponsored by the Valley Service Organization (VSO).

The forum will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Platte Valley Community Center, according to Kate Sherrod, VSO president. The primary election is August 16.

Invited candidates include: Jerry Paxton of Encampment; Julie McCallister of Rock River; Ken Casner, Elk Mountain, running for House District 47 State Representative; John Espy of Rawlins; Kenda Colman of Medicine Bow; Sue Jones of Saratoga; Lindy Glode of Saratoga; and Terry Weickum of Rawlins, running for Carbon County Commissioner, and Mara M. Sanger and Janelle “Snider” Hicks, both of Rawlins, running for Clerk of Court.

During the forum each representative will first present a brief resume of his or her qualifications and views. This will be followed by a question and answer period.
