Emergency training to be held at Sinclair Refinery

Carbon County Emergency Management (CCEM) will be holding a homeland security training exercise on Friday, April 22 near the Sinclair refinery.

The exercise will be held on property belonging to the Sinclair refinery, but will not be held at the actual refinery facility, John Zeiger, director of CCEM, said.

Multiple agencies will be involved in the exercise, according to documents released by CCEM. The exercise is sponsored by Sinclair Refinery, CCEM, and the Wyoming National Guard.

While the agency would like nearby residents to be aware that an exercise is scheduled for Friday, the agency has embargoed any specific details about the exercise in order to ensure that those who participate have the most realistic training simulation possible, Zeiger said.

The exercise will not affect the availability of normal emergency services, the documents released by CCEM said.
