Riverside urges Medicine Bow to sign SCWEMS amendment

The Riverside Town Council signed a letter urging the town of Medicine Bow to sign the proposed amendment to the South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Service (SCWEMS) Joint Powers Agreement as written. The letter, written by Carbon County Deputy Attorney Ashley Mayfield, notes that all of the other SCWEMS entities have approved the amendment to the agreement without any additional terms.

Riverside Mayor Leroy Stephenson discussed fine tuning the air supply to the biodomes installed last year in the wastewater treatment lagoons. This is the first winter with the biodomes and the units in one lagoon seem to be having air pressure issues in the cold weather. Ken Schwerdt with Engineering Associates said that he has been in contact with the manufacture of the biodomes and they will work to resolve the issue. Based on current levels the town will have to start discharging the lagoons in the next month or two.

As the wastewater lagoons have filled it has become apparent that the west berm of the west lagoon is lower than the other berms and needs to be raised. The possibility of using State Land and Investment Board grant funding to raise the berm was discussed.

The town council agreed to formally thank Dan Jago for plowing snow from the town hall parking lot.

The next meeting of the Riverside town council is slated for 6 p.m., Feb. 11 at the Riverside Town Hall.
