Tags still left on giving tree

Plenty of tags are still hanging on the giving tree at Town and Country Realty. “We have more needs than ever,” said Mary Martin, who manages the tree for the Valley Service Organization (VSO).

Annually, the VSO collects a list of children and adults in need of gifts for children from low-income families. Many include simple things like snow boots or new clothes.

Also on the hanging tree are adults from the Saratoga Care Center who have simple needs like a new pair of slippers. Some residents have no family to provide for them and while the Saratoga Care Center provides gifts for the residents, not all the needs can be met.

Normally, there are just a few tags left this time of year, but Martin said she still has quite a few, and the deadline to get the gifts back is Dec. 10.

Many organizations and churches have been contacted to help, but there are still tags on the tree.

To peruse the tree and see if you can help, stop at the Town and Country Realty office at 403 First Street.
