Savannah Suttee, of Encampment, was named princess-in-waiting for the 2015 Carbon County Fair. In addition to this title, she showed animals at the fair and competed in barrel racing. Suttee, 10, won barrel racing and pole bending, she said.
"It's taken everybody on the queen committee two years to get it," Suttee said of last year's attempt. Suttee said she enjoys everything she does at fair and hopes to compete for titles like this in the future.
"I showed two sheep this year, and two of my sheep named Hersheys and Thunderhead are being bred," Suttee said. "I'm excited for them to have babies. I hope they both have twins."In order to get ready for fair, she showed her horse the barrel pattern and practiced leading her horse around. Since she wanted to win one of the rodeo queen titles, Suttee also had to get a speech ready.
According to Suttee, her favorite animal to show is her horse. "I actually think the most exciting moment ... is right before I hear my time, right after I leave the arena," Suttee said. "That's the most exciting time for me."
In addition to her fair activities, she enjoys art, playing hockey, roller skating and taking pictures. Suttee said she is also managing the volleyball team.
Mostly, Suttee said, she likes riding her horse, Texas.
