Drifters Eatery fills a gap in Saratoga dining

Breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

"We want to be able to feed you on a regular basis," Stacy Wilder, co-owner of the newly opened Drifter's Eatery, said.

In order to make that happen Wilder and her daughter/co-owner Keeli Hamann are opening the restaurant from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and staying open until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Wilder and Hamann said they will add hours during hunting season and when there are events in town.

After closing Stumpy's, a sandwich shop in the building that is now Bella's, Wilder said they regretted it. Wilder and Hamann said it has been a long process making the decision to open a new restaurant. They had to decide on menu items, location and if it was a good economic decision.

Wilder said they heard that the Del Rio had closed and ended up making a deal with the former owner to buy the property and Drifters Eatery was born.

It's a family affair with Judy and Walt Wilder, Stacy's parents are helping around the restaurant. Kaiser, the youngest son is cooking, while the oldest son, Talon has been doing the maintenance work. Servers are Shannon (soon to be daughter in law), cousin Lee, niece Makayla, and even a grandson, nieces and nephews are hanging out and pitching in.

When developing the restaurant Hamann and Wilder decided to go with affordable prices and a menu based around Stumpy's subs, which are now Drifter's sandwiches. They also decided to add an all day breakfast, something Wilder has experience with after running an IHOP in Casper for three years.

"We're taking what we already did before, tried to make it even better, added a breakfast which is a much needed thing in this town, and here we are," Wilder said.

The menu includes a variety of breakfast items, appetizers, sub sandwiches, hamburgers and pizza.

Drifter's is planning on doing much of their business through take out orders and can take orders over the phone and via text.

When asked about their favorite items on the menu Hamann went with the Buoy, a teriyaki marinated chicken breast sandwich. Wilder said she is really into her onion scoops which are hand-battered onion blooms in a spicy sriracha batter she developed herself.

Drifter's Eatery is located at 110 E. Main St. in Saratoga and their phone number is 307-920-0802.
