Berger qualifies for nationals

Jace Berger heels the calf at the Wyoming High School State Finals Saturday. With a time of 12.46, he and his team roping partner Matthew Britton were all smiles.

Saratoga junior Jace Berger and his team roping partner, Matthew Britton, kept their fourth place ranking at state finals, which makes them national qualifiers.

The team held third place for much of the week, but then the fourth place team had a faster time and moved up, Berger said.

The first day, the team placed first. "We didn't do so well the second day," Berger said. But on the third day they rallied and came back to place third and placed fourth in average.

This will be Berger's first time competing at nationals. "It's pretty exciting," he said.
