The Platte Valley Solid Waste Disposal District (Landfill Board) passed a resolution June 3 to increase the landfill rates 18 percent effective July 1.
For the a personal landfill fee, that increases the monthly cost from $17 to $20. Commercial increases also went into effect.
The rate will reflect on the Aug. 1 billing for each town. Saratoga and Riverside bill landfill use for the outlying areas, while each municipality bills for its residents.
An ordinance had been tabled from the May meeting and was taken off the table in June. Chairman Randy Raymer said he discovered in his research that the rate increases for the board only require a resolution and not an ordinance with three readings.
The budget was tabled because a public notice for a budget hearing had not been published. The third reading of the budget will be presented at the July 1 meeting after a budget hearing before the meeting.
The next Landfill Board meeting is July 1 at 7 p.m. at the Encampment Library. The Budget Hearing will begin at 6:55 p.m.
