Deorio denied motion

Eden Deorio was denied her motion to suppress statements by the District Court in Rawlins last week.

Deoiro, who has been accused of allegedly taking more than $30,000 from her employer, Valley Foods, requested a motion to suppress her statement to Saratoga Police Officer Ken Lehr.

Deorio said in her motion filed on April 13, 2015, that she wanted the statements to be suppressed because of cultural and language differences and her statements were not made willingly, knowingly or voluntarily.

The Motion to Suppress Statements also claimed there was not reasonable cause for the detention of Deorio, and that the statements were obtained as a result of a custodial interrogation conducted without proper Miranda advisements. She also claimed that the law enforcement interview was “inherently coercive”.

The state filed its State’s Response to Defendant’s Motion to Suppress Statements and refuted Deorio’s claim.

On June 2, the matter came before the court and on June 3, Judge Wade Waldrip signed an order denying her request.
