Lady Tigers break record, make state

The Encampment Lady Tigers Relay team broke their school record by six seconds on April 22 when the Encampment Tigers track and field team competed at the Rawlins Invite.

The relay team members, Ashlynn Johnson, Cassidy Little, Micaiah Pantle, and McKenzie Powell took first place on the 4x800 meter relay with their time of 11 minutes 13.66 seconds which also pre-qualified them for state competition.

Other notable finishes for the girls team were Ashlynn Johnson’s second place finish in the 1600- meter run with a time of 6:28 and took first place in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 6 inches. Cassidy Little placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:50 and McKenzie Powell placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.75 as well as her second place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 32’ 7.5”.

The boys team also pre-qualified for state with their first place finish in the 4x800 meter relay with their time of 9:28.7.

The boys relay team consists of Gage Bartlett, Guy Erickson, Hunter Hammer and Brett Ralston.

Both the boys and girls teams took fourth place overall at the meet with team scores of 45 and 64 respectively.

On Friday, the Tigers traveled to the Douglas Invite where McKenzie Powell pre-qualified for state in the 800-meter run with her third place time of 2:30.60. Powell also pre-qualified for state in the long jump with a distance of 15’ 1/4”. The girl’s team finished 14th overall with 10 points.

The entire Encampment track team’s next meet is May 2 in Saratoga
