Several other track and field competitors placed after a two-week hiatus because of spring break.

The boys team took an eighth place finish with 62.50 points and the girls had a seventh place finish with 29 points.

“I was really excited to have most of the team compete,” head coach Rex Hohnholt said. Other spring activities have kept many of the track and field athletes from competing.

Future Farmers of America state meeting was held in Cheyenne last week, so some of the students who were at the FFA meeting were able to compete at the invitational.

It was the first time for many of the athletes to compete.

Hohnholt said he saw a lot of progress and even some surprises.

Now that most of the athletes have their first meet under their belt, Hohnholt hopes to see more improvement.

“We will have some really good kids in the future with what I saw,” Hohnholt said.
