Arts council offers three scholarships

The Platte Valley Arts Council is offering scholarships to graduating seniors from Saratoga and Encampment.

Three scholarships are available – a $500 Gabe Springsteen Memorial award, a $500 Platte Valley Arts Council award and a $250 Platte Valley Arts Council award.

Criteria for the award include displaying an active involvement in an area of fine arts, demonstrating the likelihood future involvement in the arts, plans to pursue a post-secondary education and maintains a grade point average of no lower than 2.5.

Application requirements are a cover letter outlining future plans, two letters of recommendation – one must be from a teacher or sponsor in the student’s area of art interest, the second letter can be from an employer, mentor or other person of student’s choice, high school transcript, resume of activities, awards and interests.

The applicant is also required to submit one or more examples of his or her art form. Photographs of visual art must be in .jpeg format and in RGB color mode. Digital images of work should not exceed 7 inches or 700 pixels on the longest side.

Applicants are asked to make sure the image displays with the top facing up and that all unnecessary items are cropped out of the image.

Applications must be postmarked no later than April 17 and can be mailed to Platte Valley Arts Council, Attn: Scholarship Committee, PO Box 127, Saratoga, WY 82331.
