Avid fisherman Vince Hytrek moved his fishing hut onto the ice Monday afternoon. After augering a hole in the ice, the ice thickness measured 10 inches, a gain of two inches from Friday.
Dana Little, Member Services Manager for the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce reports that, as of last Friday, the ice on Saratoga Lake thickened to seven or eight inches.
"It should be a wonderful derby," Little said in anticipation of the 32nd annual Saratoga Ice Fishing Derby to be held Jan. 17 and 18.
