FCCLA wins cluster

Four members of the Encampment FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America) returned from the National FCCLA Cluster Meeting in Salt Lake City with top awards.

Earning second place at the national convention held Nov. 20-23 was Shawneka Sifford and Brett Ralston.

Sifford’s entry was in Fashion and Apparel Design Sketching and Ralston’s entry was on Hospitality Tourism and Recreation Challenge.

Jacob Dickinson and Makayla Wilder earned third place at the national convention. Dickinson participated in Impromptu Speaking and Wilder competed in Culinary Food Art.

Thirty junior high and high school members participated in the National Cluster Meeting.

Participants attended Future Focused sessions on college and career preparation, leadership skills, conflict resolutions and general sessions with motivational speakers according to Cheryl Munroe, FCCLA advisor.

Members from more than 20 states attended the meeting.

Junior high students attending were Lauren Buford, Kailey Hytrek, Katie Russell, Ember Yeary, Noelle Peterson, Makiya Johnson, Morgan Dale, Takoda Pedersen and Taylor Huntley.

High school students were Katlynne Hytrek, Miciah Pantle, Ashlynn Johnson, Kaylynn Herring, Alyssa Barkhurst, Courtney James, Hailey Barkhurst, Sierra Loftice, Wyatt Cox, Spencer Knotwell, Tyler Kuster, Isaac Dugger, Darion Vacher, Brett Ralston, Hunter Hammer, Emily Morgan, Shawneka Sifford, Makayla Wilder, Tylr Kozelisky, Charles Watts and Jacob Dickinson.
