Assistant town clerk recognized, consensus funds discussed

Encampment makes plans to pay off loans

At the Encampment Town Council meeting on Oct. 9, outcoming Deputy Clerk Susan Munson was presented a plaque recognizing her years of service to the town.

Mayor Greg Salisbury said “(Munson’s) going to go on and do something else great … she gave the Town of Encampment years and years and years of dedicated service.”

Munson said it was not an easy decision to leave, but she is going to help her husband grow his business.

Discussion of consensus funding lead by Salisbury noted that Rawlins is the biggest competition for the funding, while the smaller towns have been making concessions in the amount of money they are asking for.

The town has received its new mosquito fogger and has ordered parts to repair the old fogger for use as a backup.

The town will be using some of the available money from the specific purpose tax to pay down revolving loans from the state. Town treasurer Doreen Harvey will pay down the loans in order to save on interest fees.

The loans are down to a total of about $795,000 from the original loan amount of $2.2 million. Harvey said at this rate she expects the specific purpose tax will be retired early.

The next Encampment Town Council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 13.
