X-country looks to state

Saratoga cross country coach Rex Hohnholt said his team only had a short rest before this weeks meet, but they are right where they want to be.

On average, the team was slightly slower at the Lyman Invitational held at the Fort Bridger National Historic Site on Thursday.

Hohnholt said the grouping of the runners is important, “we just need to get that grouping a little faster.”

He said the varsity team members are already faster than they were this time last year. Hohnholt said he does not focus on any particular competitors, but instead tries to have his athletes ready to compete on any given day. “You can’t control what everyone else is doing anyway, you only control our group of kids,” Hohnholt said.

He also said he doesn’t worry about the team’s performance at the state championship, “our kids never let me down ... we’ll be ready.”

Their next meet will be Friday at the Cheyenne Invitational.
