Consensus funds hit the streets

Saratoga Town Clerk Suzie Cox said the town of Saratoga is asking the county for $450,000 for the 2015 Street Improvement Project. The project will go towards repairing pot holes and chip sealing town roads.

The town is expected to contribute $50,000 towards the project.

The town has spent the last four year’s county consensus funds on sewer projects. Saratoga Mayor John Zeiger said on numerous occasions he wanted to use this year’s funds on street projects.

The town of Rawlins has requested the most funding from the county to pay for their new landfill project.

There will be another consensus fund meeting at 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the Rawlins Fire Station #2 at 501 E. State.

Pedestrian Bridge

The town of Saratoga has received interest from contractors for the placement of the pedestrian bridge after it was put out for rebid in mid-September

The bridge, which will span from Veterans Island Park to an inlet across the river, will require a crane operator to lower the bridge into place. Town crews have already built an abutment on the inlet, and will begin construction of the abutment on the Island side this week.

The completion date has been pushed back to the middle of October.

New sculpture

Saratoga Town Hall received an updated look after the town received a donated sculpture.

The sculpture, made with Corten steel, depicts a trout jumping out of the water and was donated by Saratoga residents Bill and Carole Ward.

The Wards have had the sculpture on their property for 20 years, and decided to give it away to help “spruce up” town hall”.

“We just thought town hall needed something in front of their building,” Bill Ward said.

Workers at the town hall said the sculpture brings a welcomed touch to the town hall building.

The next Saratoga Town Council will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct.7 at the Saratoga Town Hall.
