Kirsten M. Campbell

On Sept. 13, 2014 at 6:08 p.m. an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors of Anheuser Bush was called in an effort to stymie the sudden freefall in stock price as a result of plummeting Budweiser sales. Investors and Board members alike feared the worst when they learned of the untimely death of Kirsten M. Campbell, 46, of Saratoga.

Kirsten was the backbone of the kitchen in the Wolf Hotel for over 20 years and was loved, respected, and admired by a legion of friends and a tightly knit family. She fostered these attitudes and feelings by regularly weaving a tapestry of profanity to anyone within earshot. Even so, there was never a kinder or more thoughtful person than Kirsten. Generous and loving to a fault, she would give you the shirt off her back and then go find another to give you in case you needed two.

She enjoyed her spare time complaining about how she never got time off from work. Kirsten also loved tailgating before Wyoming football games, floating the river, cheering for her hapless Chicago Cubs, cutting meat, giving a 'credit card' to unsuspecting co-workers, doing crossword puzzles, tending to her favorite horse teams during Chariot Race season, and spending time with friends.

She will be sorely missed by her parents Doug and Kathleen (Roletto) Campbell of Saratoga; brothers Jason (D'Ron) and Judd (Nora), both of Saratoga; and sister Meghan (Torrey) of Hilo, Hawaii. Kirsten was fondly known as 'Aunt Bud' by her nieces Ava, Kaitlyn and Jaden; and her nephews Burgan, Douglass, Anthony and Simon. We are sure this was because she was such a good friend and not related in ANY way to the beverage of same name.

Kirsten was a fighter until the end but finally succumbed to cervical cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity and a pile of bandanas. The Campbell family plea is that every lady reading this get a yearly checkup from their favorite OB. Please.

We humbly invite everyone to the following events:

A rosary in her honor will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at St. Ann's Church in Saratoga, 218 W. Spring Avenue.

Kirsten's funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18th, and will be held at the Platte Valley Community Center Gymnasium, 210 W. Elm, Saratoga. A reception will immediately follow the Mass in the Community Center Great Hall.

The family asks that any memorials be given in her name to the Corbett Medical Foundation (PO Box 343, Saratoga, WY 82331), or to the Platte Valley Community Center (PO Box 128, Saratoga).

Many thanks to the family of the late Bill Eves who inspired this obituary. It is really too bad Bill and Kirsten didn't get to meet in this world. I think they would have been good friends.
