Lottery comes to Saratoga

In just a few days, Platte Valley residents will be able to try their luck with the brand-new Wyoming Lottery.

The Wyoming Lottery is featuring Powerball and Mega Millions. The Country Store and the Kum and Go on First Street in Saratoga are both carrying the lottery.

Kathleen Martin, owner of the Country Store, said her store is doing the lottery because it is something new and different.

“I think the lottery is just a fun thing to do,” she said.

Martin had to apply to get the lottery at the store. Once accepted, a machine was installed, and she had to go to Cheyenne for a training. She will soon be training her employees to deal with lottery sales.

Martin hopes offering the lottery at the store will bring in more traffic and generate more revenue. She said they will begin selling tickets on Aug. 24.

Tim Lamprecht, owner of Valley Foods in Saratoga, said his business will not be carrying the Wyoming Lottery to start. However, he said he is still leaving the option open if enough customers request it.

People will have the opportunity to by Wyoming lottery tickets starting at noon on Aug. 24.
