Thrift shop donates talking books

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon,residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Monday afternoon, seven residents played Yahtzee with Marjery McAulay winning. On Tuesday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 13 residents played Bingo. Charlotte Gibbons, Truth Karstoft, Dora Martin, Elaine Burge, Randy Cross, Truth Karstoft, and Carol Higby won Four Corners. Nadine Caleb, Dora Martin, and Charlotte Gibbons won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joni Johnson, Gloria Rakness, Elder Richin, and Elder Penaranda. On Thursday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

During the evenings, residents watched Turner Classic Movies. On Tuesday morning, residents watched the DVD movie “Ghost”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the movie “Foreign Correspondent”.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center led our church service. Doris Davis played religious music on the keyboard.

On Monday afternoon, seven residents attended Resident Council under the leadership of President Randy Cross, discussing concerns about living at the facility.

On Wednesday morning, Lynda Healey, Georgia Schroer, Kathy McMorrow, Boomer Schroer, and Felicity Schroer gave Hair Care to eight residents and Nail Care to 13 residents.

On Friday for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, five residents had oven-baked chicken and birthday cake.

On Saturday, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.

We wish to thank the Encampment Thrift Shop for the donation of talking books.
