EHS athletes earn year-end awards

Encampment High School coaches and athletes looked back on a year of strengths, achievements and improvement at the 2013-14 E-Club Athletic Banquet.

The banquet, held at the Encampment K-12 School Gymnasium May 27, was attended by coaches, family members, friends and students who participated in school sports over the recent school year.

Coaches in track and field, volleyball and boys' or girls' basketball reminisced on their respective seasons, and presented students with awards, certificates and lettering for team efforts over the year.

The recipients and their honors earned are listed below:

Track and Field Awards:

All-State Award-Alyssa Barkhurst for the long jump

All-Conference Awards-McKenzie Powell for the triple jump

Alyssa Barkhurst for the long jump and 100 and 200 meter dashes, was also regional champion in the 100 and 200 meter dashes

School Record

Breaker Awards

Alyssa Barkhurst for the long jump, with 16'7.25". Barkhurst broke Jeany Echardt's Encampment School girls' long jump record from 1982.

Three Trails Conference Record-Breaker Awards

McKenzie Powell for the triple jump, broke record with 32'10.50"

Alyssa Barkhurst for the long jump, broke record with 16'1.50"

State Performance Awards

Jacob Wells for 10th place in the shot put

McKenzie Powell for fifth in the triple jump, seventh in the 300 meter hurdles and sixth in the 400 meter dash

Alyssa Barkhurst for third in the 100 meter dash and eighth in the 200 meter dash

Guy Erickson- led team in three-point percentage (36 percent), free-throw percentage (79 percent) and field goal percentage (40 percent), and averaged 2.1 assists per game

Free-Throw Buckle Award- Guy Erickson- ended season with 79 percent of free-throws scored, was second place in the state stats

Steals Award- Harold Jackson- led the team with 76 steals, and was seventh place in the state

Rebounder of the Year Award- Luke Pantle- 65 rebounds per game and 169 total

Outstanding Defensive Player- Harold Jackson

Offensive Player of the Year-

Luke Pantle- averaged 18.7 points per game and scored 486 for the year
