North Platte access areas reopen

Receding flood waters along the North Platte and Laramie Rivers allowed the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) to open several Public Access Areas (PAA) Friday.

The Jelm, Monolith, Treasure Island, Foote, Pick Bridge, Sanger and Fort Steele/Rochelle PAAs will open this Friday. WGFD also opened roads on the Wick Wildlife Habitat Management Area (WHMA) along Wagonhound Creek.

While river levels are dropping, the public is cautioned that PAA roads, parking areas and campgrounds will still be muddy and boat launching may still be difficult. The public is urged to use caution especially boating the North Platte River in the Saratoga area.
