Six Tigers qualify for state

Alyssa Barkhurst races past a competitor at the Rawlins Invite in April. She placed first in the 200 meter dash and long jump at regionals, and will compete at state in Casper.

After an impressive weekend at regionals, six Encampment Tigers are now headed to the 2014 Wyoming State High School Track and Field Meet in Casper.

Out of the seven team competitors, McKenzie Powell, Alyssa Barkhurst, Karie Russell, Guy Erickson, KeeGan Johnson and Jacob Wells all qualified for state last weekend at their regional meet in Lander.

Barkhurst was the top placer for the team, taking home two gold medals from the 200 meter dash and long jump, and a silver from the 100 meter dash.

Powell also nabbed second place from her distance in the triple jump.
