A call to our future leaders

Many people who may be interested in running for office, may have too many fears about being in such a position. They may be afraid of the responsibility, or of too many people disagreeing with their ideas. They may also think their voice does not matter, or that no one would be interested in what they have to say. For anyone who has ever felt that way, it’s time to overcome those fears and realize that your voice does matter. Every voice counts and has worth in a small community.

Many of the Valley’s younger residents may feel like they have nothing important to say, or could not handle the responsibility of being a mayor or even a council member. They may feel as though the community’s established residents might not take them seriously, or appreciate their new or different ideas. They might even feel as though long-time residents are more respected and knowledgeable about the community, and could therefore better handle the responsibility. Those people started when they were young. It is time for the younger generation to begin taking responsibility to help shape the future of our community.

We would like to encourage any citizen to stand up for their community, overcome those fears and run for office. You are the future of this Valley, and we would like to hear your fresh ideas to lead a community. If you feel you have something important to say, it’s time for you to step up and make your voice heard.

We, at the Saratoga Sun, feel that all the citizens of this Valley have valid viewpoints that should be expressed and examined.

We need vibrant people willing to step up and become the leaders of the future.

You’ll never know if you can make a real impact or difference in your community until you give it a try.

We, at the Saratoga Sun, encourage the effort.
