Manholes, meetings and meters

Repairs to Saratoga streets were discussed by members of the Saratoga/Carbon County Impact Joint Powers Board (Water and Sewer Board).

Town engineer Chuck Bartlett said that the town is going to try to set up a meeting with the Reimen Corporation concerning the meter project.

At the March Water and Sewer Board meeting, several members of the board were concerned with paying the $182,000 retainage to Reiman Corporation after several of the water meters, which were installed by Reiman, were not functioning properly.

Bartlett said that Tom Thompson, attorney for the town of Saratoga, was going to set up a meeting soon between the Reiman Corporation, the town of Saratoga and PMPC.

The town of Saratoga had several manholes resealed throughout the town. The total cost of the project is $73,200, of which 75-percent of the cost of the project came directly from grant money. The other 25-percent of the project arrives from the Water and Sewer Board.

“(CST Industries) came through and sealed the manholes, we have found a couple that were leaking, but they are coming back on May 12. They are going to go through all the manholes again and reseal them if they are leaking,”Bartlett said.

Bartlett announced that the town of Saratoga pumped 9,304,246 gallons of water for the month of March.

The next Water and Sewer Board meeting will take place at 6 p.m., May 14 at Saratoga Town Hall.
