Compressor station hearing set

A public hearing regarding the proposed Chokecherry Compressor Station for Walcott will take place in Cheyenne March 26.

In September of last year, SourceGas filed an application with the State Public Service Commission requesting a CPCN for major facility construction of the compressor station located in Walcott. The Wyoming Office of Consumer Advocate, Seminole Energy Services and Wyoming Community Gas have intervened in this matter.

The public hearing in this matter is set to commence at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26 in the Wyoming Public Service Commission’s hearing room at 2515 Warren Ave., Suite 300 in Cheyenne.

The project would include construction for a compressor station tied into two interstate pipelines at Walcott Junction. There are 54,000 customers in the Casper Division of SourceGas, which includes most of Carbon County.

The compressor station would be where natural gas flowing through pipelines is compressed during travel to cities across the state. With the proposed compressor station, SourceGas would do an interconnect with two interstate pipelines at Walcott Junction.

Another connection would give the company more safety by having another area where they can manage the gas flowing through the pipelines.

SourceGas’ application is available for inspection by any interested person during regular business hours at the Commission’s office in Cheyenne, and at SourceGas’ business offices in Torrington, Gillette and Casper. All interested persons are encouraged to attend the public hearing which will be conducted in accordance with the Wyoming Administrative Procedure Act, and the Commission’s Rules and Special Regulations.

Interested persons may appear and be heard, either in person or through counsel, as provided by Commission Rule.

The Commission’s hearings are open to all persons. If one wishes to attend the hearing and requires reasonable accommodation for a disability, please contact the Commission at 307-777-7427 (Voice of TY) in Cheyenne during regular business hours, or write them at 2515 Warren Ave., Suite 300, Cheyenne, WY 82001 to make arrangements.
