Obituary: Barbara Daily Hooker

Barbara Daily Hooker, 95, of Rawlins, passed away on March 2, 2014, at Deseret Health Care and Rehabilitation in Saratoga.

Barbara was born in Logan, Kansas on Dec. 16, 1918, to Otto and Tessa Mae Daily, and moved to Rawlins in the early 1920's. She married Homer H. Hooker, of Bairoil, on Aug. 16, 1940, in Moose Pass, Alaska. They were married 74 years. Barbara and Homer made their home in Rawlins in 1943, when they returned home, so Homer could go to war. 

Barbara was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and business owner of the Rawlins Raceways. She enjoyed family, travel, line dancing, golf, parties, playing cards, crafts, "Raceway" kids that she loved as her own, walking and all social gatherings and activities. She was actively involved in Sweetwater Homemakers, Women's Club, Junior Old Timers, Red Hat Society and Soroptimist International.

Barbara is survived by her son, Galen and wife, Jamie Hooker, of Rawlins; her daughter, Jill Dean Hooker, of Cheyenne; granddaughters, Kassy and husband, Kevin Wall, of Rawlins and Kim and husband, Clete Long, of Greensburg, PA; great-grandchildren, Kolby, Kendal and Kolton Wall, of Rawlins and Hannah and Evan Long, of Greensburg, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Homer Hooker; an infant son, Roger Hooker; her parents, Otto and Tessa Mae Daily; a brother, O.R. "Bud" Daily; and a sister, Evelyn Gantz.

Barbara lived with happy expectations, loved with every ounce of her being and laughed until the end.

A memorial service will be held in June. An announcement of the date and time will be published at a later date. Cremation is being handled by Carbon County Funeral Home.
