Kiwanis notes

Platte Valley Kiwanis continue to support two ongoing projects focused on community youth in 2014. Once a month during the school year, Kiwanis members bring healthy and tasty treats for Excel Preschool, Saratoga HeadStart and kindergarten kids through our “Muffins and Milk” program. The Kiwanis Club is also reinvigorating our “Baby Packets” program, which provides families with newborn children a suite of fun and educational items to help with this new and exciting time in their lives.

Plans are underway for two upcoming events, the Kiwanis traveling bake sale on March 20, and “Stars of Tomorrow” March 23.

At the traveling bake sale, Kiwanis members stop by local businesses and organizations with baskets of homemade goodies. Donations for the baked goods provide the club funds to support the community in a variety of ways, including the scholarship program. If any business or organization would like to have Kiwanis stop by, contact Connie at The Flower Pot or any member and request to be added to the list.

Kiwanis will host the annual “Stars of Tomorrow” youth talent show at 2 p.m., March 23 at the Platte Valley Christian Center. The club is hoping to build upon last year’s successful 21-performer event. Youth application materials will be available soon and the talent show will be free and open to the public.

The next meeting is at 5:15 p.m., March 18 at 5:15 p.m. at the Saratoga Senior Center.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at time.
