Dining room the hub of the center

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

An important group of employees at the facility is the Dietary staff. Residents enjoy being in our dining room, because it is a time to socialize with table mates, other residents, and staff. Dietary employees offer nutrition meals to our residents. In addition to regular diets, of particular concern to them are the therapeutic diets that some residents have. The hard working kitchen staff provide tasty meals and meet various special food requests from the residents.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, six residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Tuesday morning, four residents elected to play Yahtzee with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo. Truth Karstoft, Kenny Hoagland, Pat Rust, and Carol Higby won Four Corners. Pat Faust and Sam Kelly won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joy Hamilton, Dawna Erickson, Elder Alameda, Elder Ramirez, and Gloria Rakness, with Lila Worden calling on Wednesday.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, on Monday three residents had hot hamburger, and on Friday, three residents had roast beef and birthday cake. We celebrated the birthdays of Nadine Caleb and Frank Jereb, among others.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Stinson of the Saratoga Missionary Alliance Church led our church service. He was assisted by Joe Gaspari as hymn leader and Doris Davis on the keyboard.

On Tuesday morning, Reverend Helen Young offered Bible Study to five residents.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan, Pat Steumke, and Lynda Healey gave Hair Care to six ladies.

On Thursday afternoon, we celebrated the birthdays of Nadine Caleb, Patsy Faust, Charlotte Gibbons, Frank Jereb, and Frank Mallette with ice cream and cake. We played one Blackout Bingo after that with Pat Faust and Dora Martin winning.

We wish to thank Nancy Facciani for the prizes for Bingo.

The Activity program relies on volunteers to enhance residents’ lives. If interested, please call 326-8212 and ask for the Activity Director, Tom Mansfield.
