Airport master plan heads to FAA, WYDOT

During a public hearing on Feb. 4, Michael Haak of Sage Civil Engineering discussed the master plan for Shively Airfield. Haak said that this was the last public meeting before implementation of the project.

Haak presented the outline for the airport layout plan which the terminal layout and approach surface. He said that the new approach would “increase the efficiency and effectiveness [of planes] coming into the airport.”

It was also announced that there will be projects in place to make the airport more aesthetically pleasing. This will include an access road near the airport.

“With the use that your airport gets, I think it is advantageous to not only have a visually appealing airport, but a visually appealing walk to the main entry,” Haak said. “We have also included in the plan a recommend goal to construct a sidewalk down to main street.”

Haak said that the sidewalk would not be federally funded, but can be incorporated in the Saratoga Town master plan.

The airport plan now goes forward to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) for review.
