Saratoga pumped more than 179 million gallons of water in 2013

In the first Saratoga/Carbon County Joint Powers Board meeting of the year, Board members examined the previous year’s water usage and discussed future projects for the Board.

The board said that during December, 9,462,242 gallons of water were pumped in Saratoga. The total water pumped reached 179,030,329 for 2013. The months with the highest usage included June and July with over 50,000,000 gallons pumped collectively.

Official approval for the Mineral Royalty grant will be announced tomorrow. Pending tomorrow’s decision, the design portion of the Wastewater Outfall Transmission Line and Pump Station Project could commence this spring.

The meeting concerning the Mineral Royalty Grant will be held in Cheyenne and several members of the board will likely attend.

Additionally, the Joint Powers Board gave an update on the $716,900 slib loan for the State Lands and Investments Board. They said that they applied for $179,000 dollars in debt forgiveness but only received $100,000. Chuck Barlett, the town engineer for Saratoga, said that the extra $79,000 will have to be recouped through sewer rates.

The next Carbon County Joint Powers Board meeting will be held 6 p.m. on Feb. 5 at Saratoga Town Hall.
