Five Saratoga wrestlers scored top five placings at the West Grand Invitational wrestling tournament last month.
Jacob Wells was the top placer, with second place in the 285 pound division. Bradley Bifano, Chaze Wiant and Hunter Mason all secured third place in their divisions, and Tate Stinson made fourth place. The invite took place in Kremmling, Colo. Dec. 21, following the Quadrangular tournament at Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow High School Dec. 19.
Coach Jared Mason said his team finished sixth out of 19 teams at Kremmling. He said he was happy to see Wells wrestle more aggressively, and Stinson get back into competing.
"We wrestled well in Kremmling before the Christmas break, placing five of the eight in the medals," said coach Jared Mason. "Our wrestler for the week was Jacob Wells, who finished in second place and wrestled with a more aggressive style and with confidence. He really stepped it up a notch. It was also exciting to get senior Tate Stinson back in the lineup, and he wrestled well considering his level of conditioning."
The Panthers next head up to the Douglas Invite, which takes place Friday and Saturday.
