At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities last week.
On Christmas Day, residents enjoyed a sumptuous dinner of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, cranberry sauce, and apple pie. The turkey was donated by Suzie Cox. Our administrator, Tim Monroe, dressed as Santa Claus and passed out Christmas presents to residents after breakfast. Dick Ament from the Veterans of Foreign Wars passed out carnations to every resident after the Christmas presents were passed. Residents chose to watch the John Wayne movies on AMC throughout the day in the dining room.
Each night during the week, residents watched Turner Classic Movies in the evening. On Sunday morning, four residents watched the Christmas classic, “Miracle on 34th Street”. On Tuesday afternoon, six residents watched the movie, “The Santa Clause”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Harvey”.
Games last week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Friday afternoon, eight residents played Bingo. Kenny Hoagland won Four Corners.Orley Roberts won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Betty Dean, Lila Worden, and Gloria Rakness. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.
On Sunday afternoon, Doris Davis led our church service and played religious music.
On Monday, three residents had sloppy jo’s for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center.
On Monday afternoon, three residents went Christmas shopping at the Family Dollar.
On Monday evening, four residents went on the Christmas lights van ride around Saratoga.
On Thursday afternoon, four residents did an Arts and Crafts project.
On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
Thanks to all those in the Valley who volunteered their time throughout the year to enhance the quality of life of our residents.
