Shirley Nadine Jairell

Shirley Nadine Jairell died Nov. 29 at Poudre Valley Medical Center in Fort Collins, Colo.

Shirley was born in Encampment on Jan. 20, 1944, to Les and Nadine (Blake) Wick.

The family moved to Laramie when she was 8 years old.

After graduating from Laramie High School, she married the love of her life, her Bobby, Robert Bob Jairell on April 20, 1963, in Laramie.

She was a bookkeeper, then office manager, at Developmental Daycare and Preschool. She retired after 30 years.

She loved her job and especially all the kids - "babies", as she called them.

Shirley will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, her love of the outdoors and her love for the family gatherings at all holiday events.

Her deepest loves were her husband, Bob, her children, grandchildren and her extended family.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and dearly loved friends; cooking; fishing; camping; sewing; knitting; crocheting; and playing Bridge with lifelong friends.

She gained a new hobby she absolutely loved: rock hunting. The past few years, Shirley and Bobby started wintering in Arizona, where she learned the art of rock hunting and made new friends she dearly loved.

She was a member of the Sierra Madre Muzzle Loaders Club, a family she loved and a club she was very passionate about.

Her favorite event was the Mountain Man Rendezvous in Encampment at the end of every summer, being surrounded by family and friends in the outdoors and watching all the events her grandkids, Bob, Buzz and special friends participated in.

She will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit. She was a gracious, loving woman who is greatly missed.

Shirley was a past Honored Queen of Jobs Daughters Bethel No. 2 in Laramie and is also a past Honored Queen of Bethel No. 44 of Laramie. When Bethel No. 44 started, she served as their Honor Queen until they could elect their queen and officers. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, the Laramie Extension Club and a lifetime member of the Encampment Museum, which she held very dear.

Shirley is survived by her husband Bob Jairell, of Laramie; son Les and Brenda Jairell, of Sheridan; daughter Anissa Bartlett, of Cheyenne; Les and Anissa's little brother, Chip the Schnauzer; grandbabies, Aspen and Christopher Jairell, of Sheridan, Austin and Jairelyn Bartlett, of Cheyenne; mother Nadine Wick, of Laramie; brother L.A. It is the price of love." Author unknown.
