Dog problems off the leash

Who let the dogs out, and I don’t mean that sarcastically. The town of Saratoga is plagued by troublesome pooches and snappy police officers that are taking this town to the dog park. This problem is dog owners everywhere because they’re not taking very good care of their dogs, and are constantly having to shell out hundreds of dollars to please the general public. These dogs have a feeling that they have to bark and cause trouble to get attention and its affecting other people more than just the owners. Those people need to take better care of their dogs and this sort of problem wouldn’t happen.

Another problem we have in communities where our four-legged pals can be free is that they can’t. In Saratoga, a leash law is required and it puts a strain on us as owners. The Saratoga Municipal Code states, “any person owning, keeping or having possession of any dog who allows such a dog to be on any public street, alley, sidewalk or public grounds of the town, except when physically restrained with a leash, is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon proper complaint and conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than fifteen dollars.”

Dogs were born wild and free and will act as such even on a leash, dragging us down and all over town. Dogs need to have the freedom to run and do whatever they want because honestly, nobody likes to be in a cage.

There aren’t many attractions in Saratoga, Wyoming, especially one on a map. One thing Saratoga does have that is always overlooked is the Dog Park. It is cared for and maintained by an elderly couple who only wish to bring owners closer to their dogs, but many people often take this facility for granted. People take their dogs to the park only to use it to drop their dogs off, and leave them there like some sort of dog babysitting service. With all the money the police department makes on ticketing people for dogs, you would think they would have enough nerve to donate some of that to the local dog park to have a better place to be with our dogs.

In conclusion, dogs in Saratoga have little or no leash to run on. The dog community is looked down upon in Saratoga and has a lot of restrictions that keep dogs from being what they are. The city spends money on ridiculous gimmicks rather than using the money for something practical, like repairing the dog park. There are a lot of things affecting the dog community and there are a lot of things that need to be changed, and it all starts when someone makes the first move.
