The Patti Fiasco to film video at Gryphon Theatre

The Patti Fiasco is taking their band to the next level, by filming one of their concerts live in Laramie Dec. 7, and their fans are invited to join the fun.

"For a band that got its start playing for Wyoming bar regulars four years ago, The Patti Fiasco is now taking its vibrant live act to another level," a press release said.

This Fort Collins, Colo.-based band, featuring Encampment School graduate Alysia Kraft, will be filming music videos at Laramie's Gryphon Theatre this Saturday. With help of award-winning videographer Levi Wells and a cast of professional sound engineers, the band hopes to harness its live energy for a series of videos to be released this spring.

"These days a music video can get a band more exposure and opportunity than months upon months on the road," Kraft said. We're excited to record in front of an always energetic Laramie crowd. We got our start there, and it's still our favorite place to play."

Kraft recently moved to Austin, Texas to work on her music career.

Fort Collins has an awesome music scene, Kraft said, but there are lots of producers and people at both ends of the music industry in Austin.

Kraft said she and the band have wanted to do the video for a while because it represents what they do. "I want to get it circulating on the internet," Kraft said. "We draw a crowd from Ft. Collins, Colorado and Wyoming and we want to show the excitement on the scene."

Although the towns in Colorado and Wyoming are not like Austin or Los Angeles, Kraft said, she believes the excitement those communities show for her music will reflect the energy the crowd has when they play.

"The boys are staying in Fort Collins," Kraft said, but she hopes that they can book more concentrated blocks when they go on the road. "We would play fewer shows, but they would be better shows."

Kraft and her music partner Stacy Foster have a duo called Whippoorwill. While they are living in Austin, they plan to make more of a career for themselves and the band and meet people who are invested in the music business.

Kraft said she chose Austin over Nashville because the hill country in Austin satisfies her need for a beautiful and inspiring backdrop.

The Patti Fiasco spent the past summer sharing stages with nationally-touring acts Ben Harper and Justin Townes Earle. The band's new album, "Small Town Lights", debuted at #5 on Colorado Radio Charts, with the single "Small Town Lights" getting national radio play.

This spring, the band will be showcased amongst the world's most exciting musicians at Austin's internationally renowned SXSW Music Festival.

Kraft was featured this month in the Wyoming Art Council's ARTSCAPES Fall 2013 magazine.
