Unfair advantage? Town attorney recommends making council persons non-voting members of boards

The Saratoga Town Council may be taking a closer look at council representation on boards.

Town attorney Tom Thompson said allowing council members to vote on some boards gives council members an unfair advantage during the decision-making process.

“It’s almost like you have two votes,” Thompson told Council member Steve Wilcoxson in the Nov. 12 Planning Commission meeting.

Wilcoxson said he felt it was his responsibility, as a councilman, to vote against and present his side to other council members, even if it goes against the boards he is on.
