Obituary: Jessie Covey/McDowell

Jessie F. “Nonnie” Covey, 87, died Nov. 3, 2013, in Rawlins. Memorial services took place Wednesday at the Wamsutter Baptist Church. Allen Shelton officiated.

Nonnie was born March 25, 1926 in Nettleton, Ark., to parents Pearl (Hudson) and D.H. Fielder. She was married to Lloyd “Red” Covey in Reno, Nev., on April 14, 1944. She worked for many years at the Senior Center in Fairfield, Calif., where she took great pride in caring for others.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing cooking for large family gatherings and loving and looking after her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd “Red” Covey; a brother, J.B. Asher; sisters Rose Knotts and Pauline Spencer; great-grandson Daniel Todd; and great-great-grandson Vincent L. Jimenez.

Survivors include daughters Peggy (John) Roope and Bonnie (Larry Sanford) Burns; grandchildren Gene (Ronette) McDowell, Jesstine McDowell, Lance (Makayla) Burns, Bobby McDowell, Brandy (Rick) Navarro, John (Robin) Roope and Pam (Luke) Roope; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchilden; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
