Getting ready for Veterans Day


At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, three residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Monday afternoon, five residents played Crazy Eights with Dora Martin winning. On Wednesday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, eight residents played Bingo. Truth Karstoft and Frank Jereb won Four Corners. Frank Jereb and Dora Martin won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joy Hamilton, Gloria Rakness, Elder Clay, and Elder Young. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

Residents watched the commercial-free Turner Classic Movie channel evenings during the week. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched a VCR Movie, “We Were Soldiers”.

On Sunday morning, several residents listened to music from World War II.

Sunday afternoon, Reverend Helen Young led church for residents. Doris Davis assisted with religious music on the keyboard.

On Monday and Thursday mornings, residents listened to Brenda Zeiger read from C. J. Box’s “Open Season” in Reading Fun. On Friday morning, residents listened to stories from True West magazine.

On Tuesday morning, Brenda Zeiger offered Bible Study to four residents.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave beautiful hairdos to five ladies in Hair Care, and Brenda Zeiger did nails for those residents.

Wednesday morning several male residents got together in the dining room for a coffee hour.

On Thursday afternoon, five residents did a Thanksgiving project in Arts and Crafts.

On Saturday afternoon, residents had ice cream sandwiches.
