Residents visit Aspen Alley

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

With the advent of fall on Sunday, we have begun getting cooler temperatures and some very beautiful days (and some rain, too). On Thursday afternoon, seven residents went on a Van Ride to Aspen Alley to see the fall colors. The month of October will bring our annual Fall Carnival on Friday, Oct.25, for kids in the Valley. We will be having the usual fun and games, prizes, candy, and a spook house.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Uno with Frank Jereb winning. On Monday afternoon, three residents played Uno with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Wednesday afternoon, eight residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo. Dora Martin, Carol Higby, and Frank Jereb won Four Corners. Kenny Hoagland and Dora Martin won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Gloria Rakness, Betty Dean, Betty Eaton, Dawna Erickson, and Lila Worden. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

Residents watched the Turner Classic Movie channel evenings during the week. On Sunday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “The Pajama Game”. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched the VCR Movie, “The Last Holiday”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “To Catch a Thief”.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Hughes of the Abundant Life Fellowship led church for residents.

On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, residents continued listening to Robin Cook’s “Acceptable Risk”. On Thursday, a volunteer, Ruth Shallbetter, read to residents.

Monday for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, four residents had chicken and dumplings.

Tuesday morning, Brenda Zeiger offered Bible Study.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave beautiful hairdos to five ladies in Hair Care, and Brenda Zeiger did nails for them.

Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.

We wish to thank Yvonne Johnson for the Bingo prizes and Betty Dean for candy for Bingo.

The Activity program relies on volunteers to enhance residents’ lives. If interested, please call 326-8212 and ask for the Activity Director, Tom Mansfield.
