Obituary: Jeannie Lorraine James

Jeannie Lorraine James passed away Sept. 19 at the Deseret Nursing Home in Saratoga where she had been a resident for 10 years.

She was born July 8, 1920 in Diller, Neb., to Earl and Bethel Stull. She grew up in Fairbury, Neb. and after graduating in 1938 she taught third grade for three years at a rural school. She then moved to Goodland, Kan. with her parents and eventually met her future husband Curtis James of Kanarado, Kan. They married on Dec. 23, 1950 and moved to his ranch southeast of Burlington, Colo. Three years later she welcomed her only child Curtis James to the world.

Jeannie enjoyed being in the mountains, hunting and traveling. Her journeys took her to Europe, South America and Australia. Her passion for hunting also led her to Alaska and Canada. While she enjoyed traveling and meeting new people she seemed happiest spending time with her family around a campfire or on Christmas morning.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband Curtis James, her sisters, Phyllis Arnold and Betty Short, and her brother Dale Stull.

Jeannie is survived by her son Curtis (Brenda) James. She is also survived by her grandsons, Curtis James and Creed (Megan) James, and granddaughters Darcy James and Chelsey (Jason) Ewing and great-grandchildren Weston and Madeline James and Gavin and Bentley Ewing.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Deseret Nursing Home in Saratoga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Jeannie James’ memory be made to the Jeannie James Memorial Fund, Rawlins National Bank, P.O. Box 1290, Saratoga, WY 82331.
