Coach sees improvement

The Saratoga Golf Team athletes proved they are working their way toward improvement during their recent two-day invitational in Lander.

Coach Matt Daubner said he saw the kids play better at the invite, which took place Thursday and Friday, although scores were only mildly higher or lower than those from the Rawlins Invitational Aug. 29-30.

“I’m starting to see some real improvement in the kids,” he said.

Leading the way for team scores again was Braxton Schwartzkopf, with 81 and 80 (161 total) and an eighth-place ranking. Guy Erickson placed 93 and 97 (190 total), and Christian Soles placed 115 and 109 (224 total).

Chaze Wiant scored 123 and 131 (254 total), and Hazer Hinkle snagged 114 and 112 (226 total). Harley Klemola, who missed this year’s first two fall invites, was welcomed back and scored 117 and 122, for a total of 239.

The team plays in Douglas this Thursday and Friday.
