The Saratoga Sun -

Residents enjoy many activities

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

We will be having our annual summer barbecue on Thursday, Aug. 15, for family and friends of our residents. We are hoping to have good weather on that day, so we can enjoy the barbecue on our patio.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday morning, two residents played Wii Bowling. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Uno with Pat Sims winning. On Monday afternoon, six residents played Yahtzee. On Wednesday morning, six residents played Blackjack with Jeanette Baker winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 10 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, eight residents played Bingo. Nadine Caleb and Dora Martin won Four Corners. Kenny Hoagland, Jeanette Baker, and Frank Jereb won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Gloria Rakness, Connie Hood, and Lila Worden. On Thursday afternoon, six residents played Uno with Sunny Behonek winning. On Saturday afternoon, six residents played Blackjack with Fran Jereb winning.

Residents enjoyed watching movies during the week. Every evening several residents watched Turner Classic Movies. On Saturday morning, residents watched “The Ladykillers”.

On Saturday afternoon, five residents enjoyed the music at Power at the Pavilion.

On Sunday afternoon, Reverend Helen Young of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church led church for four residents. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard with traditional religious music.

On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, residents listened to a new book, Mary Higgins Clark’s “No Place Like Home”.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, two residents had baked ham on Monday, and four residents had cheese pizza on Friday.

On Monday during supper, Nancy Facciani played old favorites on her accordion for 24 residents.

We wish to thank Gloria Rakness for the donation of candy for Bingo.
