Obituary: Richard Lealand Allen

Richard Lealand Allen, 76, passed away at his home in Riverside on July 11, 2013.

He was born July 19,1936 in Greeley, Colo. He grew up in Denver and attended Manual High School.

He served three years in the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.

On Jan. 5, 1957 he married Patricia Lucille Thomas whom he met in the seveth grade.

Richard began his apprenticeship with Plumbers Local No. 3 and became a Master Plumber working on such jobs as D.I.A, Coors Field, NORAD, NCR, the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Aspen, Colo., Bridger Power Station at Point of Rocks, Wyo., and many more.

He retired in 1998 and as a retirement project he built a log home to replace the small cabin purchased as a vacation home in Riverside in 1965. He was an avid family man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, rock hounding and greatly admired the wonders of nature.

He is survived by his mother Lois Bee, of Monroe, La.; sister Betty Allen of Laclede, Idaho; twin brothers Wendell (Betty) Allen of Spring, Texas; Wayne (Mary) Allen of West Monroe, La.; his loving wife of 56 years Patricia, five children, Kathleen (Nick) Lisi of Florissant, Colo.; Colleen (Gary) Westbrook of Broomfield, Colo.; Doreen (Ron) Harvey of Riverside; Maureen (Billy) Zeiger, of Encampment; Rick (Kristie) Allen, of Woodland Park, Colo., and six grand children.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the BASH (Building Another Sportsman’s Heritage) Invitational’s Jr. BASH event at P.O. Box 543, Windsor, CO 80550.
