Carbon Power and Light, Inc. invites members to the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Membership Saturday at the Platte Valley Community Center.

Marcy Knotwell, Carbon Power and Light Staff Assistant, said the company, which started in 1941, has the meeting on the fourth Saturday of June each year. For this year’s meeting at the PVCC, 210 W. Elm in Saratoga, registration begins at 10:30 a.m., with a complimentary lunch at 11 a.m., Bingo at 11:30 a.m. and the business meeting at 12:30 p.m.

Knotwell said there is also a computerized drawing where members drawn at random can win $500, $750, $1,000 or even $1,500. She said members can also receive door prizes.

“We’ll have door prizes such as microwaves, power washers and tools, and we’ll also give out billing credits,” Knotwell said. “We’ll also give out 15 individual three-quarter beef packages. There will also be booths with information on how to save electricity, and other entities are coming with displays as well.”

Knotwell said a number of speakers will also be present at the meeting, and nine high school seniors will be presented scholarships.

“Carbon Power and Light will present six scholarships worth $1,000 apiece to six territorial students whose parents are members,” she said. “Tri-State Generation and Transmission will also present two $500 scholarships to students, and Basin Electric (Power Cooperative) will give out one $1,000 scholarship.”
