Thomas (Tom) Titus Craig

Thomas Craig passed away after a battle with cancer, May 10, 2013 at the age of 83, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Tom was born March 11, 1930 in Birch Tree, Mo., to Thomas Wesly Craig and Rachel Cathren (Buff) Craig.

Tom wintered in Quartszite, Ariz., from 1997 to 2012 and lived in Saratoga from 1942 to 1997. He worked as a campground host at Lincoln Park from 1990 to 2007.

Tom married Dona Jean Jackson on Oct 15, 1950. His partner in retirement was Joann Littler.

Tom began working in wood mills in the Snowies at the age of 13. Tom retired from the Union Pacific railroad, where he worked from 1952 to 1990.

Tom and his wife Dona helped build the Saratoga Alliance Church and were a big part of that church community for many years.

Tom and Dona dreamed of retiring to the desert in Arizona after Tom’s retirement, but Dona’s health prevented them from going together.

Dona passed away in 1996 and shortly afterward Tom headed for the desert where he spent his time riding his four-wheeler, exploring the desert and soaking up all the sunshine he missed while working on the railroad.

Tom also discovered sandals and shorts, which was a huge surprise to his family in Wyoming.

Tom loved fishing, camping, camp hosting, tinkering with cars, riding his ATV and golf cart, puzzling, doing word searches, reading, playing guitar, mandolin and harmonica and watching westerns.

Tom is survived by his partner in retirement, JoAnn Littler, of Quartzsite, his daughters Linda Bryson, of Saratoga; Gerry (Dan) Henderson, of Evansville, Wyo., and son Chuck Craig, of Craig, Colo.

Tom is also survived by his sister Grace (Bob) Johnston, of Saratoga, and brothers John (Melcine) Craig, of Saratoga and Clinton (Nadeen) Craig, of Arizona City, Ariz.

Tom leaves behind seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife Dona, his parents, brother Jim and sisters Thelma, Della, Beulla and Judy.

A memorial service is to be held at 10 a.m., June 15 at the Saratoga Alliance Church at 1302 S. River Street in Saratoga. A luncheon will follow the service.
